The Ellersly House Hotel in Edinburgh is an Ivy clad Edwardian country house set in secluded gardens in the suburbs of the city, two miles from the historic city centre. The 57 guestrooms feature a simple cream and blue dcor with dark wood furnishings. All rooms have complimentary toiletries, as well as satellite television, direct dial phones and coffee/tea makers. The hotel is a smoke free property. At the Ellersley House Hotel, Edinburgh, traditional Scottish fayre and modern international dishes are served in the informal Gallery restaurant which overlooks the gardens and features modern and traditional artwork, wood furnishings and blue carpets. In the lounge bar snacks and refreshments are served in a relaxed atmosphere with two Georgian fireplaces. The gardens make an attractive retreat in which to while away a couple of hours with the morning papers or a good book. Guests can add champagne and flowers to their rooms for a fee of around 40. The Ellersley House Hotel can cater for social functions and banquets of up to 90 people and conferences of up to 75. Complimentary parking is available for guests with their own vehicles. The famous Edinburgh Zoo can be found one mile from the hotel. The spectacular castle, which provides excellent views over the city, Princes Street, the Royal Mile and Holyrood palace are all two miles away. The airport is six miles from the hotel. Renovation Notice: Beginning December 1, 2007, the hotel is scheduled to undergo construction to the area behind the property. Guestrooms to the rear of the hotel will have obstructed views, and the rear car park and gardens will be unavailable. Construction work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There may be noise disturbance. The estimated date of completion is December 2008. This date is subject to change.
