Location. The four storey Portobello Hotel is housed in a period property that incorporates a traditional Irish pub, and is located in the historic centre of Dublin. The lively nightlife of the Temple Bar district is 1.5 kilometres from the hotel and Landsdowne Road Stadium, home of the Irish rugby team, is two kilometres away. Grand Canal Dart Station is one kilometre from the hotel. Dublin International Airport is 12 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 40 minutes. Hotel Features. As well as a traditional Irish pub, the Portobello Hotel houses a separate nightclub, Temptation, which hosts Hawaiian parties and School Disco theme nights. A full Irish breakfast is served each morning and the hotel's front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Snacks and drinks are available via room service (limited hours) and the hotel also offers a cash machine. The Portobello Bar is an Irish pub serving carvery lunches and an la carte dinners in a traditional setting with a modern twist. Guestrooms. The 25 guestrooms over four floors feature simple decor and furnishings in earth tones, with fitted carpets and floor length drapes. All are equipped with satellite television, telephones, dial up Internet ports, coffee/teamakers, shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries. Expert Tip. The hotel pub was at the centre of events during the Easter Rising of 1916. It was briefly seized in the name of the Irish Republic by a detachment led by one of the barmen, but then taken the British armed forces once the Irish fighters escaped through the cellars. Although there were no casualties, the building sustained considerable machine gun damage.
